How far could we go in Europe?
Seeing how this season could well be all English European finals & given our current position, it's quite interesting to consider how our full strength squad team would do next season.

In one off games against Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea or Arsenal, I'd say that only Man City would be almost certain defeat. Chelsea would be tricky, but a definite possible victory. As things stand, against Man Utd or Arsenal I'd be very hopeful we might turn them over in a one off game, or even over two legs. To be fair though, other than West Ham, I've not really watched any other teams games since the first lockdown started and they banned fans.

I'm interested in the opinions of those who have continued to follow other games. Do you think we could have walked through Roma like Man Utd just did? How would we fair against PSG? Would we be completely overrun and destroyed by their frontline?

For all those who watch European football and the cups, how far could we realistically go next year if we qualify? In my mind I'm thinking if Arsenal & Man Utd under their current management can get to the semis, we've got to have a very good chance?

Depending on the draw, could go as far as Russia.

Qualifying from the group stages would be an achievement

It all depends how much backing they give moyes, and I don't just mean a massive sum of money. I mean letting him bring his players in, and not being tied to the latest love child of his agent mate/s. unless they allow moyes to make the decisions, he may as well go to celtic at the end of the season. the best I can see us do is maybe the first knockout round of the europa, if moyes is still manager

Depends on which comp we end up in, if the CL then we will give it 100% and more, the Europa, expect us to rest and rotate depending on the opposition, this new Conference thing, may see us give it ago but will be given a similar tratment as the Carabou Cup, the fringe players will get a run out and start and those returning from injury.

For what it's worth, after the stadium move and following my own personal experiences of Bucharest, Palermo and the more recent Astra nonsense: In the Europa League, I would be expecting us to reach the last 16 at an absolute minimum. Champions League would be a free hit. This new Conference tournament we'd have to be looking at trying to win.

Actually if Moyes will be properly backed in the summer window we could go to the knock out stages

With Sullivan’s aversion to travel expenses, I’d say Kent

On current form we'd do well to get there at all.

As we have two points, from the 8 league games against that lot this season and an extra time cup defeat against Man United, what makes you think we'd suddenly start, to do better against them?

need to get there first. Drop points to Burnley and were off track for any Euro competition.

We'll all get excited and then lose on penalties to Barry in the pre-qualifier, qualifier.

If we get in the Champions I doubt we get out of the groups.
If we go into the UEFA, I’d be worried we again didn’t pass the qualifying to get into the groups.
But yes, right now I’m concerned we don’t even get to Europe. We have lost a couple of important games for achieving Europe and if we don’t change that we won’t be going anywhere.

Re: How far could we go in Europe?
I think a lot of people are in for a rude awakening next season. If the lockdown is over two things will likely happen: a) a lot of teams will improve their home form and b) teams who don't have much possession and rely on counter attacking may get the crowd on their backs when losing at home, and these teams will fare worse. We are b), not a).

We've been lucky that the lockdown has afforded Moyes the chance to get the team playing how he wants them to, and I would expect us to finish 7th-10th next season, but the only European competition we'd have much chance in is the Conference.

If we do enter that we'll have loads of extra games to play without benefit of all the extra money you get from the Champions and even Europa League, meaning we'll barely strengthen the squad, and probably do even worse in the Premier League.

I don't normally like being negative but unless the club gets sold I don't see this season as being anything but an enjoyable one off, assuming the lockdown ends.

Depends which UEFA (Europa) we get. Straight to group stages for Europa League, for English teams. Last qualifying round for Europa Conference.
